Heat Pump CHAmpion.

Sustainable, safe, good.

Perfectly matched for heating replacement. Find out how you can use environmental heat for your home with the CHA monoblock heat pump from WOLF.

The heat pump CHAmpion as the perfect alternative to gas and oil.

The heat pump as a type of heating is in vogue - and rightly so: because a heat pump is the most sustainable solution for heating modernisation. It uses the energy of the environment and converts it in a sustainable cycle so that it can be used as a heat source for your home.

WOLF heat pumps are "Made in Germany". The natural refrigerant makes them not only particularly environmentally friendly, but also very efficient. They are extremely quiet and make you independent of oil or gas. And best of all: WOLF heat pumps are guaranteed to be eligible for subsidies of up to 50 %. To find out whether a heat pump is suitable for your heating system replacement and what you need to look out for when buying, simply download our free brochure.

7 good reasons for a heat pump

Save costs

1. Reducing heating costs

A heat pump saves up to 30 % on operating costs - you don't have to worry about rising oil and gas prices.

Air-to-water heat pump CHA monoblock

You want to replace your existing gas or oil heating system with a heat pump? The WOLF CHA monoblock air/water heat pump is not the market leader in heat pumps for single-family homes for nothing. Our experience speaks for itself:

Highest efficiency in practice

In most existing buildings, it achieves JAZ values between 3.5 and just under 4, in new buildings approx. 4.5. This means that the unit makes 4.5 parts heat from one part electricity.

It is not for nothing that the CHA monoblock is the market leader in the field of heat pumps for detached houses:

5-year warranty, no ifs, ands or buts.

No hassle in the event of a warranty claim: The warranty covers more than the statutory warranty - and is a direct promise from the manufacturer to you. You receive a 5-year warranty on your online registered WOLF heat generator and your living space ventilation.

You receive up to 50 % state subsidy.

When you replace your heating system with a CHA monobloc heat pump, pollutants and CO₂ emissions are reduced. That's why the CHA is guaranteed to be eligible for subsidies and up to 50 % of the costs for modernisation will be covered by the state.

You protect the environment through innovation.

The natural refrigerant R290 of the CHA monoblock heat pump is not ozone-depleting and has no effect on the greenhouse effect. Due to its high availability, it is future-proof and affordable in the long term. This allows you to achieve high flow temperatures with one hundred percent environmental friendliness.

You are saving heating costs

With a CHA monoblock you heat with free environmental energy from the air. You get electricity at a special heat pump rate or generate it yourself. In this way, you can generate up to five kilowatt hours of heat with energy from the environment and one kilowatt hour of electricity.

You rely on the renovation professional

Due to its technical details, the CHA monoblock heat pump is also approved for high flow temperatures. So your heating system works even without underfloor heating. Best of all: the entire technology fits on just one square metre and elegantly blends into your home thanks to its award-winning design.

FAQ Heat Pumps

  • How an air/water heat pump works

The function of a heat pump is based on a cycle in which a refrigerant absorbs heat from the environment and "pumps" it to a higher temperature level. The heat energy can also be extracted from the air at minus temperatures and multiplied by means of auxiliary energy (electricity).

    1. Evaporation: the refrigerant absorbs environmental heat and evaporates - it becomes gaseous.
    2. Compression: The compressor compresses the gaseous refrigerant - the temperature level rises.
    3. Liquefy: The refrigerant releases the heat energy in the condenser to the building's heating circuit - in the process it becomes liquid again.
    4. Expansion: The pressure is reduced by the expansion in the expansion valve - the cycle now starts again.

  • Do heat pumps also work without underfloor heating / with radiators?

In order for retrofitting a heat pump in an existing building to make sense, a few prerequisites must be met. Underfloor heating is ideal, but not a must. It is helpful to have good thermal insulation, which enables the heat pump to provide energy-efficient heating with low electricity consumption. The second factor is low flow temperatures of no more than 55 degrees - this can also be achieved by conventional radiators. Your heating engineer will find out whether individual radiators need to be replaced by calculating the heating load.

  • What does an air/water heat pump cost to run?

You can easily calculate this yourself. The important thing is the annual performance factor (APF) of your heat pump, which tells you how many kilowatt hours (kWh) of heat are produced with one kWh of electricity invested. Simply divide your electricity price by the expected COP of the heat pump. If the result is lower than your previous heating oil or gas price, then the heat pump will pay for itself over time. However, you should also bear in mind that since January 2021 there has been a CO2 price increase, which means that the prices for gas and oil are more likely to rise in the future. The maintenance costs for heat pumps are low compared to gas and oil heating systems.

  • What heating capacity does my house need?

The most reliable answer to the question of heating capacity is a heating load calculation. Ask your installer or energy consultant about this!

  • What does an air/water heat pump cost?

The costs for development, purchase and installation amount to about 20,000 to 30,000 euros - the price varies greatly depending on the product, region and conditions in the property. In addition, there may be renovation measures to make the house fit for the heat pump. The installation of heat pumps and the surrounding measures are supported with 35 % of the eligible costs through state subsidies ("Federal subsidy for efficient buildings"). If an existing oil heating system is replaced, up to 50 % is possible.

  • Are refrigerants harmful to the environment?

In the past, partially fluorinated hydrocarbons (HFC) were mainly used as refrigerants in heat pumps. They have a high global warming potential and are up to several thousand times more harmful to the climate than CO2 when they escape or when the system is disposed of. The modern alternative to HFC refrigerants are natural refrigerants with virtually no global warming potential. R290 in particular is considered a safe, cheap and environmentally friendly substitute.
