Landesklinikum Amstetten

Amstetten, Austria

The Landesklinikum Amstetten can look back on a long history, as this hospital has been taking care of patients for over 100 years. The first sod of soil of the hospital build was turned in 1902. Today this important hospital employs around 1060 staff in eight departments and four institutes, which take care of more than 23,000 inpatients and in excess of 206,000 outpatients. The Landesklinikum Amstetten accommodates around 344 beds. The LKH Mostviertel Amstetten was extensively modernised during 2012. The focus for this modernisation project was not only on raising the energy efficiency, but also on providing the best possible well-being for patients, medical staff and visitors. It was felt to be important that patient’s rooms should provide a “living room atmosphere”.

With all service plants – particularly in the case of ventilation and air conditioning systems – a critical eye is kept on compliance with hygiene requirements. It is for that reason that the KG Top Hygiene series from WOLF, well proven in many hospitals, was preferred. Predominantly run-around-coil systems with adiabatic cooling were used as heat recovery units. These can achieve recovery rates of up to 80 % whilst fully separating supply and extract air streams.
