Standby energy consumption (standby heat loss)

What we refer to as standby mode for a television is called the standby energy consumption, standby heat loss or standby loss for a heating system. When the boiler and DHW cylinder are on standby, heat is lost via their surfaces, even though the heat generated is not currently being consumed. To reduce these standby heat losses, the boiler and cylinder are equipped with appropriate thermal insulation. The boiler standby heat losses can also be reduced if the burner runtimes are as long as possible.
