The existing gas and oil heating system had to be replaced in two buildings with a total of 24 residential units and around 2,000 m² of heated space. The exposed urban location – characterised by tram traffic and a busy four-lane avenue – led to high levels of noise, dust and particulate matter pollution. At the same time, all relevant standards such as GEG, the Drinking Water Ordinance and DIN 1946-6 had to be complied with. In addition, operating costs had to be optimised without compromising hot water comfort for residents, while at the same time ensuring the highest standards of drinking water hygiene.
